Ancona, Ridotto del Teatro delle Muse
Tuesday 9th March 2010 at 21.00
Free entrance
The look stolen is an original musical recital where literature and music are vehicles of suggestion and discussion on the use and the symbolic significance of the veil, as an element of confrontation between cultures, in a real journey through eras, borders, different uses and meanings, which wants to investigate, between memory and tradition, the feminine culture of the West and cross different traditions and distant from us.
The look stolen is that of women, which is often still denied a free and independent look: that of Islamic women, which, in many contexts, it is still literally stolen a clear view, but also that of Western women, who suffer most subtle coercion, succumbing to images and stereotypes that diminish dignity.
The look stolen was born from a Cohabitat project for the Province of Ancona.
